Over many years, Furlong Mills Ltd has built up a wealth of knowledge and experience in the formulation of all types of Ceramic Bodies. This experience has been used to design and construct one of the most modern ceramic body-making facilities of its kind. It has the flexibility to produce a wide range of spray dried body types using the most up-to-date spray drying techniques to achieve the highest standards of controlled consistency and quality. In addition to a range of standard bodies, we are able to produce recipes tailored to specific customers' requirements, specifying binders, de-flocculants and process variables such as screening sizes, moisture content, grain size of granulate and slurry density.
The principal features of the Ceramic Bodies production process are as to disperse and refine the ball clay component. To this is added the required amounts of pre-ground non-plastic materials bought in from accredited suppliers. To this, the pre-weighed quantity of kaolin and other additives required for the body batch are added. This whole process is computer controlled to ensure precise formulation. Screening and the use of both electromagnets and powerful rare earth permanent magnets ensures freedom from harmful contaminants.
